Since school's starting I'm hoping I'll get a little more inspiration than I did this summer.
After finding a new game to play [Lineage II], I kinda gave up on doing any art since nothing of particular interest came to mind. Lately I started growing weary of doing anything on the computer because I found I hadn't been growing and learning at all lately, so I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get to work. I went over everything I knew about D|S and found out a lot more things just by re-looking over everything. I think I'd pretty visible that I've learned some new things [not to sound too self-centered, but I'm REALLY proud of my latest piece, though I am reworking it, hehe].
On another note, I need a new computer and I might be getting one soon enough; or at least I need a new video card.
Here's the story:
I started rendering some images on this computer a while ago, and after getting to about... 20% through, it shut down. At first I didn't realize that happened, since I was in the shower, but it became evident when I turned it back on and found it had shut down due to over-heating. I figured something else happened, not the rendering itself, but after it happened another 4 times I simply gave up and grabbed my dad's laptop which has an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 graphics card. My computer has an old crappy RADEON Xpress 200 series video card. My computer's almost 3 years old, and I've tried cleaning it up as much as I can, but since it's still under warranty I'm hesitating to actually open it up to see if there's something wrong internally since I bought 3 year's worth of warranty and if it's opened up they say the warranty's void -.-
My old old computer refused to open one day so we took it to Future Shop [where we bought it from] and they gave me the one I currently have for 180 bucks. That's a totally new computer basically for free, and I've been stuck with it ever since. It was good back then but for what I do now, it's a piece of ancient crap. Anyway it's not much a problem. At Thanksgiving we're going to our relatives in Conneticut and the dude works with computers: he said he can probably hook me up with a new computer [or at least a decent graphics card] for free or a couple hundred so I can wait and keep rendering stuff with my dad's laptop until then...
If anyone knows/has had a similar problem [overheating when rendering/playing games/etc.] and managed to solve it, I wouldn't mind a little help

I'd love to be able to work on my large flatscreen monitor than crouching in front of a laptop's screen
