Okay, so this is officially my first tutorial, like ever, so just tell me if there's anything you don't get, I'll try to explain... Also, tips so that my next tutorial will be better would also be appreciated. My next tutorial will probably be on asteroids, just a head's up.
This tutorial is fantastic for any artist aspiring to make their own incredible planets!
I think this tutorial had the perfect amount of instructions - not too many to send heads spinning in confusion, but enough to make it easy to understand and just as easy to follow! The text is well worded, and again, very easy to comprehend. I especially liked the way included step by step pictures to show the stages that were achieved through the making of "City Lights". Too often have I tried to follow a tutorial and not been able to understand what it looks like at a current step!
This tutorial is perfectly planned, and a pleasure to use.
Looks a little too chaotic still. City lights are highly ordered. Try looking at some photos of them from space, they look more like spider webs than random clouds.
Here are some examples. London: [link] Earth: [link]
I assume you are trying to achieve the look of cities from space You asked for advanced critique too
There is a lot of really great real space photography on the net, and usually making things match up with reality adds a sense of believabi and depth that is otherwise hard to achieve.
